Ductile Iron Casting
Ductile Iron (Nodular Cast Iron) is a robust engineered material that offers the castability of gray iron with mechanical properties similar to steel. Its unique nodular graphite structure provides exceptional ductility, tensile strength, and impact resistance.
The Metallurgy Process
Base iron is melted in induction furnaces with precise chemical control.
Magnesium is added to convert graphite into nodules (spheres).
Ferrosilicon is added during pouring to prevent carbide formation.
Controlled cooling ensures the ferritic/pearlitic matrix structure.
Gray Cast Iron Casting
Gray Cast Iron (Lamellar Graphite Iron) is recognized for its excellent castability, high thermal conductivity, and superior vibration damping. Ideal for engine blocks and machine bases.
The Gray Iron Process
Raw materials reach precise temperatures in induction furnaces.
Critical step to control flake size and distribution (Type A Graphite).
Molten iron flows easily into complex molds due to high fluidity.
Controlled cooling ensures proper machinability and structure.
