What is the Ductile Cast Iron?
Ductile iron, also known as spheroidal graphite cast iron, is a special type of casting in which the carbon within the cast iron is distributed in the form of graphite particles in a spherical structure. This structure increases the material’s strength and significantly improves its mechanical resistance to tensile, impact, and bending.
What are the advantages of of Ductile Iron Castings?
- High tensile and impact strength
- Good ductility (elastic deformation capacity)
- High fatigue and wear resistance
- Moderate machinability
- Vibration damping capacity is lower than gray cast iron
- Parts with complex geometries can be produce
